REVIEWERS COMMENTS ON THE AGENTLINK 2 PROPOSAL. This document is a transcription of the reviewers comments made on the AgentLink 2 proposal, submitted in December 1999. Scores are out of 5, with 5 being perfect, 1 being unsatisfactory. SCIENTIFIC/TECHNOLOGICAL QUALITY AND INNOVATION (Score 4) The thematic network proposes and supports innovation by promoting agent technology both at industrial and research levels with clear knowledge transfer from academia to the industrial world. The objectives are clear and the maintenance of a dissemination network for agents is relevant to IST. The approach for achieving the goals is good and work includes roadmapping. However mobile agents need more and explicit attention. COMMUNITY ADDED VALUE AND CONTRIBUTION OF EC POLICIES (Score 4) The proposal contributes to strengthening the role of Europe in a field where leadership has already been established. Participation of universities and industrial partners is well balanced. It represents an opportunity to disseminate knowledge on agent technology so SMEs. CONTRIBUTION TO COMMUNITY SOCIAL OBJECTIVES (Score 4) This new technology will very likely generate a demand for new professional skills. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND S & T PROSPECTS (Score 4) The direct involvement of industrial partners in AgentLink will ensure industrial exploitation of agent technology. The planned dissemination activities are appropriate to ensure the promotion of the leading technology. RESOURCES, PARTNERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (Score 3) The project management approach and the workplan seem appropriate. However more attention must be paid to the measurement of results and progress of work. Deliverables and milestones must be defined accordingly. As regards the effort needed for the project, it remains unclear whether 72MM (part B) or 90 MM (part A) are needed. This should be checked and clarified. OVERALL SCORE FOR THE PROPOSAL 4
