To subscribe/unsubscribe to this mailing list simply send a request to mailto:coordinator@agentlink.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * SIG Changes: Agents that Learn Adapt and Discover * Draft Software Report Now Available * Agentcities Agent Technology Competition * Agentcities Task Force Launch ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * SIG Changes: Agents that Learn Adapt and Discover Daniel Kudenko (University of York) has taken over from Pete Edwards as the coordinator of the AgentLink SIG on Agents that Learn, Adapt, and Discover (ALAD). Eduardo Alsonso (City University), Pete Edwards (University of Aberdeen), and Dimitar Kazakov (University of York) will serve as associate coordinators. The ALAD SIG is an inter-network SIG of AgentLink II, EUNITE, and ILPNet II, and aims to bring together researchers from areas including (but not restricted to): machine learning, agents and multi-agent systems, adaptive systems, evolutionary computation, robotics, knowledge discovery and data-mining, personal agents, and user-modelling. Activities of the new SIG will include: o Scientific forums and meetings o Education events and resources o Development of common testbed tasks and environments (biased towards general classes of problems and industry needs). o A resource web site and online discussion forum. o Matchmaking resources for joint project proposals. o Joint activities with other AgentLink SIGs The new ALAD web page, which we aim to be a major research resource, can be found at http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/~kudenko/alad/ The ALAD mailing list has also moved to alad@cs.york.ac.uk (subscription information can be found on the web page). Any suggestions and comments on the above or on any other possible activities of the ALAD SIG are welcomed. Finally, if you would be interested in partiicpating in SIG activities, please mail Daniel Kudenko (kudenko@cs.york.ac.uk). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * Draft Agent Software Report Now Available AgentLink has commissioned a report on software products available for agent systems, now available from the AgentLink website at http://www.agentlink.org/resources/software-report.html The report is a draft that covers a large number of systems but is not exhaustive. It is intended to provide an indicative review and survey of the range of softwar available to developers and the community. If you have comments to feed back to the next draft of the report, please mail coordinator@agentlink.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * Agentcities Agent Technology Competition AGENTCITIES AGENT TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION ---------------------------------------- http://www.agentcities.org/EUNET/Competition/ Registration: 15th Oct'02 Submission: 15th Nov'02 Grand Final - Barcelona Spain: 6/7th Feb'03 Win up to 6000 Euros and other prizes for the best Agent infrastructure and application technology for open environments including special prizes for systems deployed in the Agentcities Agent network (http://www.agentcities.org). A panel of respected judges will select the best entries after submissions are closed on the 15th of November and the resulting finalists will be invited to demonstrate their systems at an Agent Technology Showcase and Grand Final in Barcelona, Spain in February 2003. The competition is supported by the European Commission funded 5th Framework IST project Agentcities.NET but is open to anybody worldwide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * Agentcities Task Force Launch The launch reception of the Agentcities Task Force was held in July in Bologna, Italy. The main mission of the Agentcities Task Force is to ensure the future stability and growth of the Agentcities Network and to build on the community of agent platform, service and application developers. The Agentcities Task Force will be legally incorporated as a non-profit organisation during August and membership will be open during September. More details about the Agentcities Task Force can be found at http://www.agentcities.org/ and details of the formation and membership process will be circulated on Agentcities mailing lists (such as discussion@agentcities.org) shortly.
