Although the proposal was for three years, the Commission decided to fund AgentLink III only for two, so plans will need to be made early in the project relating to the best ways to continue AgentLink activity. Peter McBurney from the University of Liverpool is the named coordinator, and Terry Payne of the University of Southampton will share the coordination responsibility. Their emails are listed below. Peter McBurney p.j.mcburney@csc.liv.ac.uk Terry Payne trp@ecs.soton.ac.uk There will be several changes in the structure of AgentLink III from what has gone before, of which more details will be provided in due course. However, AgentLink III will seek to continue the previous activities in one form or another. Until AgentLink III begins formally in January, we will try to maintain the website as best possible, and will continue to provide updates on progress as needed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * EUMAS Before AgentLink III kicks off in January, there will be a European workshop on multi-agent systems, EUMAS, that will be held in Oxford on 18th and 19th December, 2003. Although not formally a part of AgentLink activities, this is a new informal event that is intended to encourage and support the research and development of multi-agent systems, in academic and industrial European efforts. Both Peter McBurney and Terry Payne (the new AgentLink coordinators) will participate, and there should be plenty of time for discussion of FP6 and AgentLink activities for the coming years. In conjunction with EUMAS, and the day before (on the 17th), the openNet forum (see below) will hold an interim meeting to coordinate technical collaboration between projects and organisations wishing to use and contribute to the testbed. Details of the workshop can be found at www.eumas.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * openNet Forum Agentcities is pleased to announce the formation of the non-profit openNet forum to guide the development of the Agentcities testbed network on behalf of its user community. The forum will be open and free to join with a comment period on the proposed statutes for the forum running until the 21st October, 2003. An interim meeting will be held on the 17th December in Oxford, UK in conjunction with the EUMAS event to coordinate technical collaboration between projects/organisations wishing to use and contribute to the testbed. * Meeting details: http://www.agentcities.org/Activities/Events/Oxford03/ * Statutes for comment: http://www.agentcities.org/News/openNet/ * Associated European Project Activity: http://www.agentcities.org/openNet/ More information can be found at http://www.agentcities.org.
