The aim of the Research Group on AOSE at UCM (called "grasia!") is to implement intelligent applications for information processing in distributed environments (such as internet). We support added value services through personalization and semantic processing of information, improving information access and processing for both users and service providers.

We have a pragmatic view of the application of software agent technology, so we focus on engineering issues. This means that we intend to develop systems that work and are feasible in distributed environments. In order to achieve this objective we have defined a methodology and architecture for multi-agent system development and deployment, INGENIAS. This has been experimented in different application areas: Information recovery, Intelligent interfaces, Workflow management systems, Web site personalization, Virtual user communities, Security in agent systems, Ubiquitous computing, and grid computing.
